The Human Face of Intellectual Property: A Branding Session for Strachan IP
Capturing the Plain English Expert
The Human Face of Intellectual Property was the central theme for this personal branding photography session for Vicki Strachan, founder of Strachan IP. Working on location in Hereford, our goal was to move away from the dated, static corporate headshots that often dominate the legal and patent industry. Instead, we focused on creating a visual narrative that reflects Vicki’s approachable style and her unique positioning as a relatable expert.
Authentic Photography in a Natural Hereford Setting
The brief for this session was built around active and open body language. Vicki specifically wanted to avoid traditional, forced poses to ensure the results felt modern and authentic. By utilising her own home and garden in Hereford as the primary setting, we were able to create a series of images that feel grounded. These portraits show Vicki in her natural element, portraying her as an at home professional who is both highly skilled and completely down to earth.
A Human Centric Approach to Professional Branding
One of the standout elements of the shoot was the inclusion of Vicki’s dogs. Integrating pets into a professional branding session is a brilliant way to signal warmth and accessibility. We captured moments of Vicki in her garden, providing a human centric vibe that traditional office based photography simply cannot replicate. These images help to break down the barriers often associated with intellectual property law, presenting Vicki as a clear, calm, and confident partner for technology led companies.
Versatile Visuals for Website and Social Media
To ensure the new visual identity was versatile, we prioritised wide angle lifestyle shots with plenty of negative space. These were specifically composed to serve as website banners for Strachan IP, providing the perfect backdrop for website copy. By focusing on the beautiful natural light and textures of her Hereford home, we ensured that Vicki’s online presence is professional, cohesive, and visually engaging. The final gallery provides a diverse range of content, from formal portraits to informal expert in action shots, all designed to tell the story of a modern, founder led practice.
