A Summer of Nature Photography: Capturing the Beauty Around Me
This summer has been a delightful journey filled with family time, adventure, and the simple joys of nature. Although I’m a bit late in sharing this, I’m excited to recount my experiences and the beautiful moments I captured with my Google Pixel phone during my dog walks.
A Family Break: Paddle Boarding on the Wye and Exploring Bude
I recently took a long-overdue couple of weeks off to spend quality time with my family. We embarked on a paddle boarding adventure on the River Wye, an experience that was both exhilarating and peaceful. The river’s calm waters mirrored the lush greenery that framed our journey.
After our time on the Wye, we headed to the stunning Cornish town of Bude. The rugged coastline, charming town, and picturesque beaches provided a fantastic backdrop for capturing the essence of summer.
Revisiting Cyfarthfa Castle: A Burst of Colours
In June, we revisited Cyfarthfa Castle, a place that never ceases to amaze me with its historical charm and vibrant gardens. This visit, I was particularly drawn to the wild blooms that adorned the grounds.
Epilobiums: Their delicate pink flowers stood out against the green foliage, creating a beautiful contrast.
Rhododendron: The bold, vibrant clusters of flowers added a splash of color to the scenery.
Oxeye and Common Daisies: These cheerful flowers, with their white petals and yellow centers, were a joy to capture.
Pollen-covered Bee on a Dandelion: One of my favorite shots from the visit was of a bee, dusted with pollen, busily collecting nectar on a common dandelion. The close-up shot highlighted the intricate details of this small yet vital creature.
Local Park: Observing the Changes in Summer Flora
Back in my local park, I focused on the subtle changes in the plant life during the summer months. Each walk revealed something new and fascinating:
Seed Heads on Beech Trees: The beech trees were adorned with seed heads, which I captured in various stages of development.
Cat Grass: This plant, with its slender, swaying blades, created a gentle, almost hypnotic effect in the breeze.
Stinging Nettles: Often overlooked, these plants have a unique beauty, especially when the light catches their tiny hairs and serrated leaves.
Wood Avens: The small, bright yellow flowers of the wood avens and their later seed heads added a touch of brightness to the undergrowth.
The Joy of Photography with a Smartphone
Using my Google Pixel phone for this photography challenge has been an enlightening experience. The phone’s camera capabilities allowed me to capture high-quality images effortlessly. Its portability meant I could take it everywhere, ready to capture a photo at a moment’s notice.
Each photograph from this challenge not only showcases the beauty of nature but also reminds me of the precious moments spent with family and the tranquility found in everyday walks. I hope these images inspire you to appreciate the natural world around them and perhaps embark on your own photography adventures.
Stay tuned for more posts and photos as I continue to explore and capture the beauty of nature on my daily dog walks!
